Terms of Employment: 225 days
Position Criteria:
- Masters in Social Work, preferred
- 1-2 years supervisory experience
- 1-2 years experience in an elementary, middle or high school, preferred
- Experience coordinating community services to support children and families
- Iowa Statement of Professional Recognition (SPR) OR School Social Worker endorsement, preferred
Performance Criteria:
- Directly support students with intensive affective needs.
- Maintain regular contact with the schools to identify students in need of assistance including
- crisis intervention.
- Coordinate family involvement with agencies and services required to address student-specific
- needs.
- Serve as liaison between schools, community based social services, and families.
- Arrange training sessions for school personnel, parents and students on At-Risk issues.
- Track student progress as assigned to determine continuing need for assistance.
- Support development of district level and school-based mental health services designed to enhance student success.
- Participate in assigned department meetings with district coaches, directors and building teams.
- Compile information from resources about each student, utilizing parents, administrators,
- counselors, therapists, AEA, teachers and DHS to serve the needs of each student and family.
- Maintain weekly contact with teachers, administrators, parents/guardians and
- counselors/therapists concerning student’s needs and progress.
- Support implementation of social skill development and therapy groups for students.
- Be a liason with families, teachers, administrators, social workers and counselors to provide a
- well-rounded learning phase, both academic and social emotional.
- Work with families by providing referral sources and input on social skill development for assigned children.
- Maintain a continuing program of At-Risk staff development and training for counselors and at-risk staff to develop a competent workforce.
- Conduct home visits, as necessary.
