Terms of Employment: Seasonal
Position Criteria:
- High school diploma
- Licensed for state chemical applications (or ability to obtain within one year)
- Experience in the area of maintaining grounds
- Such alternative to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
- Must be at least 18 years of age
Performance Criteria:
- Maintains and cares for school grounds.
- Assists with selection of appropriate trees, shrubs, plants and seeds.
- Prunes trees and trims hedges to promote growth and improve appearance.
- Mows designated areas with hand or power mower.
- Work with subcontractors on landscaping beds and lawn care
- Maintains athletic fields and prepares for events.
- Connect sprinkling equipment and waters lawn and flowerbeds.
- Inspects flowers, shrubs, and trees for evidence of insects, fungi, and other pests and sprays or dusts chemicals on infected areas.
- Shovels snow from sidewalks and driveways and spreads sand, or salt to prevent slipping.
- Snow removal and plowing with pickup, tractor and/or Bobcat.
- Responsible for care and maintenance of lawn and snow removal equipment
- Parking lot maintenance.
- Playground maintenance and inspections.
- Procure supplies and equipment as needed.
- Be physically capable to work with all equipment directly. This can require heavy lifting (25-50lbs frequently, 50-100lbs occasionally), frequently walking/standing or constant pushing and pulling, as well as physical flexibility.
- Assist with operational and mechanical jobs as assigned
- Performs other such duties as may from time to time be assigned by the Board.
