Position Criteria:
- High School education or equivalent, required
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, or other discipline highly preferred
- 4-5 years experience in aquatics instruction/swim coach
- Certifications (may be obtained after hire)
- Certified Pool Operator License
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor
- American Red Cross Lifeguard
- First Aid
- CPR with AED
- USA Swimming Coach Membership

Performance Criteria:
- Responsible for opening and closing the Aquatic Center as directed.
- Ensure that the pool environment is safe. Oversee instruction and teach participants positive values such as physical fitness, positive self-esteem and character development, goal-setting, positive peer influence, team-building, and sportsmanship.ons are safe for general use. If situations arise that may impair events and activities or otherwise pose safety risks, notify Aquatic Center Manager and others and suggest alternatives or recommend cancellation or rescheduling.
- Verify that correct staffing including lifeguards are in place and performing assigned duties and responsibilities during pool operations. This responsibility should take precedence over other responsibilities whenever assigned with this responsibility.
- In the event of an emergency and in the absence of the Director of Aquatics, lead and direct the district’s Aquatic Center staff
- Assist to maintain a clean, safe and orderly pool, deck and Aquatic Center facility. Inspect facilities as directed and report any unsafe conditions or equipment promptly to the Director of Aquatics..
- Assist with maintaining balanced water chemistry with proper record keeping as required by the state.
- Assist Director of Aquatics and other Aquatic Center staff as directed with the district’s programming. This includes the designing, planning, and teaching of the programs.
- Work closely with the Director of Aquatics in the management of the youth swim team.
- Oversee the instruction and teach participants positive values such as physical fitness, positive self-esteem and character development, goal-setting, positive peer influence, team-building, and sportsmanship.
- Organize, develop and implement the sport program including meet preparation and practice schedules.
- Oversee the safety conditions of the facilities or area in which the sport is conducted at all times when participants are present.
- Research, study, evaluate and implement innovations/best practices in the sport’s strategy and equipment.
