Position: Engineering Technology & Robotics Substitute Teacher

Tentative Start Date: Early March

Compensation: $145/day, $222.00 starting 15th consecutive day

Position Requirements: 

  1. Current Iowa Teaching License/Substitute License 
  2. BA/BS in Education, Secondary Endorsement 5-12 Technology Education
  3. 30-Hour OSHA Certification

Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Facilitate student-driven learning by playing the role of a learning coach and manager, not a dispenser of knowledge. 
  2. Facilitate inquiry-based learning through ‘authentic pedagogy’ like professional-based learning and learning by design. Manage mentors and integrate their work directly into APEX curriculum.
  3. Collaborate with business partners to perform continuous curriculum enhancement and refinement.
  4. Cover lab usage.
  5. Work with high school counseling department and content areas to ensure student transitions are seamless.
  6. Develop and utilize formative and summative authentic assessments, including use of standards-based assessment and reporting.
  7. Co-design dynamic, authentic, relevant, rigorous curriculum that meets district, college and state standards, while mirroring the actual business environment.
  8. Collaborate with other APEX teachers to produce integrated projects and opportunities across the curriculum strands.
