Position Criteria:
- High School diploma required
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- CPR/First Aid preferred
- Preferred previous supervisory experience in sports, fitness, or recreation environment
- Preferred previous officiating experience
- Preferred previous administrative/managerial responsibilities
- Willingness and ability to work afternoons and evenings.
- Knowledge of, or ability to acquire knowledge of Community Education (CE)
- Knowledge of, or ability to acquire, all policies and procedures regarding Intramural activities
- Ability to handle conflict situations, make on-the-spot decisions, arrive at workable solutions, and accept responsibility
- Genuine interest in a variety of individuals and commitment to providing quality service.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Candidates should be reliable, self-motivated, and understand the recreational philosophy of friendly competition
- Previous supervisory experience, preferably in sports, fitness, or recreation environment preferred
- Previous officiating experience preferred
- Previous administrative/managerial responsibilities preferred
Performance Criteria
- Provide a friendly, welcoming, inclusive, service-oriented environment.
- Oversee preparation and breakdown of activity areas, including the set-up and returning of equipment at the conclusion of activities. Ensure that fields/courts/rooms are clean and safe.
- Check-in eligible participants prior to start of activities and answer questions regarding the rules.
- Monitor participants for proper attire and equipment for activities.
- Ensure that activities start and end on time, and that scorekeeping and timing of contests are conducted properly.
- Coordinate that score sheets are prepared, distributed, and collected after each contest.
- Maintain control of all aspects of the activity, including participant and spectator conduct. Resolve conflicts as needed. Ensure a safe activity environment for participants and spectators.
- Educate participants on sports rules and intramural policies and procedures.
- Complete accident report forms as needed. Document any unsportsmanlike conduct or other problems/issues that may arise.
- Communicate with the CE Coordinator on any issues that arise during intramural activities.
- Activate emergency action plans appropriately, and make decisions during inclement weather and/or difficult situations regarding game environment.
- Attend and contribute to all mandatory meetings.
- Represent the Community Education Department and Waukee Community School District in a professional manner at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING RESTRICTIONS:
Full Time Associates: may not work more than a combined total of 40 hours per week
Part Time Associates: may not work more than a combined total of 30 hours per week |
